Chapol calls for swift archery election

 
Bangladesh Archery Federation president Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapol has called for a swift conclusion to the federation's election process, stressing the need to maintain discipline and build on the sport's remarkable rise.

Speaking as the keynote speaker at the federation's annual general meeting at Hotel Regency in Dhaka, Chapol urged councillors to sit together and reach a final decision on the election. He said the three-month timeframe set for the current interim arrangement was fast running out.

Chapol said the AGM had been convened by the newly formed committee in accordance with government directives and due process. If the councillors finalise their decision, the formal letter to conduct the election would be sent as early as the following day, he added.

The Bangladesh Archery Federation chief also reflected on the sport's achievements since gaining affiliation in 2002. He highlighted Bangladesh's haul of 42 gold medals at international and Asian competitions, as well as Olympic and Youth Olympic qualification and a Youth Olympic semi-final appearance.

He also pointed to Bangladesh's successful hosting of seven to eight world-ranking events and Asian championships over the past 25 years, noting that local archers had continued to win medals on home soil.

Chapol expressed gratitude to long-standing sponsors, including City Group, Grameenphone, Uttara Bank, Islami Bank and Cute, for their contribution to the development of archery.

The AGM also featured the presentation of the federation's annual financial report by treasurer Saiduzzaman Tuhin.
