Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) has launched a trial of satellite-based internet on a moving BRTC bus to assess the feasibility of providing high-speed connectivity on public transport.

The trial was conducted on Tuesday at the BRTC Dhaka Truck Depot in Tejgaon during the inauguration of the BRTC women’s bus service, known as the Pink Bus.

BSCL installed a Starlink High Performance device on one of the moving buses and demonstrated the satellite internet connection.

Road Transport and Bridges, Railways and Shipping Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam attended the event as the chief guest.

Railways and Road Transport and Highways Division State Minister Habibul Rashid and Road Transport and Highways Division Secretary Dr Mohammad Ziaul Haque were present as special guests. BRTC Chairman Abdul Latif Molla chaired the event.

BSCL said the trial aims to assess the possibility of providing high-speed and uninterrupted internet connectivity on moving buses and expand the use of satellite technology in public transport.

The initiative will also assess the potential for using satellite internet on various moving vehicles in the future.
