Rajshahi Stars hold first training

Bangladesh women's football champions Rajshahi Stars FC held their first training session today ahead of their upcoming AFC Women's Champions League engagement.

The team trained for nearly two hours at Birshreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur despite persistent rain in the capital as the girls stepped up preparations for the preliminary stage of the continental club competition.

Rajshahi Stars, the defending champions of the Bangladesh Women's Football League, will represent Bangladesh in the tournament for the first time.

Team's head coach Golam Robbani Choton is focusing on collective performance rather than individual, despite having several experienced and established national players in his team.

Choton said he is content with the players' physical and tactical preparation despite the difficult weather conditions. His main objective is not only to test the team's ability at Asia's highest level of women's club football but also to create history for Bangladesh.

National team defender Sheuli Azim, who played a crucial role in Rajshahi's title-winning campaign in the domestic league, also expressed her firm determination ahead of the tournament.

The preliminary stage of the AFC Women's Champions League will be held in Malaysia from August 17-23.
Rajshahi Stars have been pitted in Group A alongside India's East Bengal, hosts Sabah FA of Malaysia and Rovers FC of Guam.

The Bangladesh champions will seek to make their continental debut memorable. The team is working to further fine-tune its preparations before leaving the country.    �"BSS
