PM to visit Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar today

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is set to visit Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar today (Sunday), marking his first visit to the region since taking office following the 13th parliamentary election.

According to his official itinerary, the prime minister will travel by helicopter from Dhaka to Matarbari in Maheshkhali, Cox’s Bazar, where he will inspect the Matarbari deep-sea port, the coal-fired power project and activities of the Maheshkhali Integrated Development Authority (MIDA).

He will then attend a programme at the West Banshkhali High School and College ground in Baharchhara Union to oversee rehabilitation efforts for people affected by the recent floods.

Later, Tarique will travel to Babunagar Madrasa in Fatikchhari, Chattogram, where he is scheduled to meet Allama Shah Muhibbullah Babunagari and visit the grave of the late Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi.

After a brief stop at the Hatahazari District Council Dak Bungalow, the prime minister will attend another rehabilitation programme for flood victims at Hatahazari Government College ground.

In the evening, he is scheduled to attend an organisational meeting at the auditorium of Radisson Blu Hotel in Chattogram before returning to Dhaka.
