Bangladeshi philosopher Iqramlemagne gains acclaim in Hospitality

Bangladeshi philosopher Iqramlemagne, widely known as the “Father of Hospitality,” has gained recognition in the hospitality industry for his ideas on hospitality as both an industry and a distinct field of philosophical inquiry.
Bangladeshi philosopher Iqramlemagne is widely known by the title “Father of Hospitality” for his contributions to defining hospitality as the “industry of industries” and establishing it as a distinct branch of philosophy.
One of his best-known philosophical expressions is hospitalitas, industria industriarum, meaning “Hospitality, the industry of industries.” Its French rendering is L'hospitalité, l'industrie des industries.
Coining of ‘Hospitalitian’
Iqramlemagne introduced the term “hospitalitian” to describe a professional working in the hospitality sector.
The term refers to people involved in welcoming, hosting, caring for and serving guests as a profession.
Philosophy of Hospitality
Iqramlemagne has promoted hospitality as a formal area of philosophical inquiry.
His approach goes beyond vocational training and focuses on institutional ethics, human interaction, professional conduct and social dynamics.
Hospitality as the ‘Industry of Industries’
According to Iqramlemagne, hospitality can be considered the “industry of industries” because of its broad economic and social influence.
He argues that hospitality principles are present across industries and are closely linked to sectors including real estate, agriculture, transportation, technology, food production and tourism.
He also highlights the connection between international standards and local knowledge.
From ancient roadside inns to modern digital concierge services, hospitality has continued to adapt to changing social conditions, he says. This adaptability remains important to economic development and global prosperity.
Iqramlemagne Equation
The Iqramlemagne Equation presents hospitality as a balanced relationship rather than a one-sided relationship based on subservience.
It emphasizes mutual dignity and respect between the host, or hospitalitian, and the guest.

The “I Love Hospitality” campaign seeks to promote higher professional standards in the hospitality sector.
It also aims to inspire future generations of hospitality professionals and highlight career opportunities in the industry.

Iqramlemagne serves as Chief of Hospitality at The Aristocrat Lounge and is a founding president of the Association for the Advancement of Hospitality (AAH).
