DOHA, Aug 11: Majed al-Ansari, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, says negotiations between Oman and Iran on the future of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz have reached an advanced stage.
The negotiations are at a critical juncture, he says, adding that Doha supports all efforts for deescalation in the region.
“As mediators, we want the Strait of Hormuz reopened as soon as possible,” the official has added.
Iran and Oman appear close to an agreement on how ships will navigate the Strait of Hormuz, but the broader dispute over fully reopening the waterway remains unresolved." AL JAZEERA
