Russian engineer dies at Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant

A Russian national died at the construction site of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna on Wednesday (August 12).

The deceased was identified as Dorokhin Sergey. He was working as an engineer for Atomtech Energo, a sub-contractor firm involved in the power plant project.

Police and project sources said his body was recovered from the office of Atomtek Energo inside the power plant area at around 10:30AM.

According to colleagues, Sergey fell ill suddenly inside the office and passed away on the spot.

Ishwardi Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Jamal Uddin confirmed the matter.

"The body was recovered from the site. It is initially suspected that he died of a cardiac arrest," the police officer said.

Police sent the body to Pabna General Hospital morgue for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death, he added.
