Unilever Bangladesh appoints Abdullah Zobayer as Head of Legal

Unilever Bangladesh Limited (UBL) is one of the country's largest fast-moving consumer goods companies. The company announced the appointment on Wednesday (August 12).

Zobayer was also appointed to the Management Committee of Unilever Bangladesh. In his new role, Zobayer will lead the company's legal function, providing strategic counsel on key business, governance, and regulatory matters.

He joined Unilever Bangladesh as Senior Legal Counsel in August 2021 before stepping into his new role. He brings over 16 years of legal experience across fast-moving consumer goods, telecommunications, and private legal practice.

Zobayer is a Barrister-at-Law from Lincoln's Inn and an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh.

During his tenure at Unilever Bangladesh, Zobayer led major litigation, arbitration, and dispute-resolution matters. He helped the company navigate complex regulatory environments and contributed to advocacy on extended producer responsibility, product standards, and labor law compliance.

Additionally, Zobayer helped advance the legal function's digitalization and process-simplification initiatives. He also served as Acting Company Secretary, supporting corporate governance and statutory duties.

Ruhul Quddus Khan, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Unilever Bangladesh, praised Zobayer's legal expertise and business understanding. He noted that Zobayer played an important role in strengthening governance and that his perspective will be valuable to the Management Committee.
