The destiny of former Prime Minister and late BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia was inextricably tied to the fate of Bangladesh, said BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

"On this day, Begum Khaleda Zia was born, a leader whose fate became intertwined with Bangladesh. Under her leadership, the country repeatedly restored democracy through struggle. She actively participated in and led the nation's journey toward prosperity," he said.

The BNP leader was speaking on Saturday at a doa mahfil organized on the ground floor of the party’s Nayapaltan central office in the capital to mark Khaleda Zia’s birth anniversary.

Fakhrul noted, "Begum Khaleda Zia was the chief architect behind transforming BNP into a true political force. She struggled for decades and never compromised on her principles. Her work and legacy continue to inspire us."

"On this day, we take an oath to make BNP a truly democratic party capable of leading the nation forward," he added.

The BNP Secretary General further remarked that as BNP has formed the government, the party will work in the coming days to implement Khaleda Zia’s Vision 2030 and the subsequent 31-point program to fulfill public expectations, strengthen the organization, and uphold the country’s image.

Speaking at the event, BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy said, "Although many shared the fruits of the political gains achieved under Khaleda Zia's leadership, she did not always find everyone beside her on the street. Yet she harbored no resentment. She embraced everyone, forgave shortcomings, and gave all due dignity."

He added, "Restoring democracy is the outcome of her long struggle. Those now tasked with state governance will surely extend full support and counsel to Prime Minister Tareq Rahman."

BNP Standing Committee members Abdul Moyeen Khan and Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Joint Secretaries General Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel and Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee, among other leaders and activists, attended the prayer meeting.
