Bangladeshi swimmer Samiul Islam Rafi has won a gold medal in the 50-metre backstroke at the Open Senior Championship in Bangkok, Thailand, clocking an impressive 24.33 seconds.
Rafi delivered an outstanding performance at the international competition, also securing a bronze medal in the 50-metre butterfly event.
In the 50-metre backstroke, Rafi finished in 24.33 seconds, surpassing the previous best timing of 24.40 seconds recorded in the event at the South Asian Games (SA Games). His performance also set a new record at the competition and earned him the gold medal.
A total of 60 teams and clubs from 16 countries participated in the championship. Thailand, the host country, was represented by 44 teams and clubs.
Rafi received the opportunity to compete in the international championship with the overall support of the Bangladesh Swimming Federation and the Bangladesh Navy.
