Build public trust, Porwar urges party men  

Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General (SG) and former MP Mia Golam Porwar has called on responsible leaders to deepen faith, build public trust and play constructive and effective roles in running the party and addressing challenges facing the country.

He made the remarks while addressing a three-day training camp for responsible leaders of district and metropolitan units organised by Jamaat’s Rangpur-Dinajpur region in Saidpur, Nilphamari, on Thursday. 

The training camp was held from August 13 to 15 under the chairmanship of Moulana Abdul Halim, director of the Rangpur-Dinajpur region.

“Above all, we must strengthen our relationship with Allah and enrich ourselves with knowledge and wisdom,” he said.

Porwar stressed the need to enhance the acceptability of leadership through the practice of ideals and good conduct. He urged party leaders to remain cautious and responsible in using social media, prioritise public welfare by understanding people’s problems, and exercise tolerance and wisdom when dealing with differences of opinion.

Referring to the programmes of the 11-party alliance, Porwar alleged that the incumbent government was reluctant to implement the referendum verdict, which, he claimed, was supported by 70 per cent of voters.

He said the 11-party alliance had announced programmes, including a road march and a grand rally in Dhaka in November, to protest and press home people’s demands.
