Kurigram Municipality Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Md Fazle Rabbi has been withdrawn following allegations of assaulting and verbally abusing two municipal employees.
The Local Government Division issued an order on Sunday, signed by Joint Secretary Sagir Hossain, withdrawing Rabbi and attaching him to the division.
The development was confirmed by Kurigram Municipality Administrator and Additional District Magistrate (General) BM Qudrat-e-Khuda.
On Thursday, municipal Accounts Officer Abdur Razzaq Rashid and fourth-class employee Anarul Islam alleged that Rabbi verbally abused and assaulted them at a residential room of the district council dak bungalow.
Municipal employees subsequently began an indefinite work abstention in protest, disrupting official activities.
Following the incident, Kurigram Deputy Commissioner Annapurna Debnath assured the employees that action would be taken and sent a letter to the Local Government Division the same day.
The withdrawal order was issued two days later.
