A poll by the US-based Pew Research Center found that 66 per cent of people in Pakistan and 56 per cent in Sri Lanka have a favorable attitude towards Bangladesh, while the figure is just 25 per cent in India.
The Washington-based research agency surveyed people in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka and released its percentage Thursday.
Fifty-seven per cent of the Sri Lankan population and 54 per cent of the Bangladeshi have a positive attitude toward Pakistan, while only 8 per cent of Indians have a similar view towards Pakistan.
Since 2024, positive attitudes toward Bangladesh have gone up by 9 per cent points in Sri Lanka, while decreasing by 10 points in India. Positive attitudes towards India have dropped by 15 points in Bangladesh, while increasing by 14 points in Sri Lanka.
When the people were asked about the most important ally of their country, 63 per cent of Sri Lankans gave the name of India. People from Bangladesh and Pakistan thought India was their most dangerous country.
When it comes to confidence in Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in dealing with international issues, 42% of Bangladeshis expressed their confidence, whereas it was only 4% in Pakistan.
