Mercantile Bank PLC has formally signed a participatory agreement with Bangladesh Bank under a Tk 10,000 crore refinancing scheme aimed at strengthening the country's rural economy and marginal communities.
The signing ceremony was held on Sunday (August 16) at the central bank's head office in Dhaka.
Director of the Agricultural Credit Department-2 AKM Saiduzzaman and Additional Director Rafia Sultana represented Bangladesh Bank at the event.
Mercantile Bank was represented by Deputy Managing Director and Chief Business Officer Dr Md Zahid Hossain, alongside FAVP and Head of the Agricultural Credit Division Md Sajjadur Rahman, in the presence of senior officials from both organizations.
Mercantile Bank stated that bolstering the rural economy has been a core focus since its inception. The bank reaffirmed that this agreement directly aligns with its long-term commitment to creating a robust and sustainable economic environment for marginal communities across the nation.
Looking ahead, Mercantile Bank pledged to continue actively supporting and aligning with all upcoming central bank initiatives to serve and uplift people across all segments of society.
