The Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association increased gold prices by Tk 2,158 per bhori within 24 hours due to rising pure gold prices in the local market.

Gold prices increased by Tk 2,158 in the domestic market yesterday, Friday. However, within less than 24 hours, the Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS) hiked prices by another Tk 2,158 to set a new rate for gold.

As a result, the price of 22-carat gold per bhori including VAT stands at Tk 2,36,779. The new gold rates came into effect from 10:00 AM, Saturday.

In a press release issued this morning, BAJUS stated that the price of pure gold (tejabi gold) has increased in the local market. Therefore, considering the overall situation, new gold rates were determined including VAT.

According to the new BAJUS rates, 22-carat gold per bhori (11.664 grams) including VAT will cost Tk 2,36,779, 21-carat gold per bhori Tk 2,26,165, 18-carat gold per bhori Tk 1,94,206, and traditional method gold per bhori Tk 1,58,630.

BAJUS stated that these prices will remain effective across all jewelry outlets until further notice. However, making charges will apply based on ornament designs. Since VAT is included in the selling price of gold and silver ornaments, no separate VAT can be collected from customers. Additionally, previous BAJUS rules will remain in force regarding ornament exchange and purchase after deducting specific VAT, making charges, and stone value.

Although gold prices were increased, silver prices remained unchanged. Currently, 22-carat silver per bhori including VAT is selling at Tk 5,074, 21-carat silver per bhori at Tk 4,841, 18-carat silver per bhori at Tk 4,199, and traditional method silver per bhori at Tk 3,149.
