A taxi company in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, has expressed interest in recruiting 1,000 taxi drivers from Bangladesh.

Direct interviews will be held on August 29 and 30 at the Bangladesh-Korea Technical Training Centre in the capital for the recruitment.

Bangladesh government-approved recruiting agency Al Anas Overseas (RL-2735) is responsible for organising and managing the recruitment process locally.

A delegation from Dubai will visit Bangladesh to directly interview and select qualified candidates.

According to ministry sources, a delegation from the Dubai taxi company expressed its interest in recruiting drivers from Bangladesh during a courtesy meeting with Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury on May 17.

The delegation said around 15,000 workers from 27 countries currently work for the company as taxi and limousine drivers. Nearly 8,000 of them are Bangladeshis. The delegation also said Bangladeshi workers are considered hardworking and are given priority in recruitment.

According to the recruitment notice, candidates must have at least an SSC qualification and be aged between 23 and 49. The employment contract will be for two years and renewable. Selected workers will have the opportunity to earn on a commission basis according to the company’s policies.

Under the recruitment conditions, the company will bear the costs related to the required driving licence, medical examination and Emirates ID. The company will also arrange accommodation for the workers. However, a specified amount for this purpose will be deducted from their salaries every month after they receive a vehicle for three months. Other terms and benefits will be determined in accordance with UAE labour laws and the recruiting company’s policies.

Candidates interested in attending the interview have been asked to bring their original passport, a colour photocopy of the passport, passport-size photographs with a white background, their driving licence and a colour photocopy of it, a CV, and colour photocopies of their educational certificates.
