ENA bus stolen in Mohakhali, recovered in Mirpur

Police recovered an Ena Transport bus stolen from the Mohakhali Bus Terminal after receiving a call to the National Emergency Service 999.

Two people inside the bus were detained in connection with the incident. They are identified as Md Russell, 21, and Lalchan, 30.

Inspector Anwar Sattar of the National Emergency Service 999 said, “at around 4:00 AM on Wednesday (August 19), a man named Mahfuz called 999 from the Mohakhali Bus Terminal and reported that a 40-seat Ena Transport bus parked at the terminal had been stolen. The GPS tracker installed in the bus showed that it was moving toward Mirpur Beribadh.

999 immediately informed the DMP Control Room, Turag Police Station and Rupnagar Police Station to take necessary measures to recover the bus. Constable Sakhawat Hossain, a call taker at 999, received the call. Later, police dispatcher SI Aminul Islam remained in constant contact with the caller and the relevant police stations.

Acting on the information from 999, a team from Rupnagar Police Station conducted an operation about 500 yards north of Panchabati intersection on Mirpur Beribadh and intercepted the Ena Transport bus, registration number Dhaka Metro-B-14-7309. Two people were detained from the bus at the time.

Inspector Anwar Sattar said legal action over the theft was underway.
