A Dhaka court has deferred again the submission of the further investigation report in the murder case of Inquilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, setting September 27 as the new date.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Joshita Islam fixed the date on Thursday after the investigation officer, CID Assistant Superintendent of Police Abdul Kader Bhuiyan, failed to submit the report.
The court had ordered a fresh investigation after complainant Abdullah Al Jaber, also the member secretary of Inquilab Mancha, challenged the charge sheet submitted by the Detective Branch.
Hadi was shot by motorcycle-borne assailants in Dhaka’s Box Culvert area on December 12 while travelling by auto-rickshaw after completing election campaigning. He died in Singapore on December 18 while undergoing treatment.
The DB submitted a charge sheet against 17 people on January 6, alleging that Hadi was killed over political rivalry and that the attack was intended to disrupt the 13th parliamentary election and create fear among voters.
