3 interim councils of hill districts reconstituted

The government has reconstituted the interim councils of Rangamati, Khagrachhari and Bandarban Hill Districts appointing new chairpersons and members through a gazette notification issued by the Council-1 Wing of the Ministry of Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs.

Md Rezuan Khan, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, confirmed this information in a statement issued on Thursday.

The interim councils were formed under the authority vested in the government by the Hill District Councils Act, 1989; the Hill District Councils (Amendment) Act, 1997, particularly Section 16A(4); and relevant provisions of the Hill District Councils (Amendment) Act, 2014.
