Foreign travellers seeking a Bangladeshi visa on arrival or transit visa can now apply online under a newly introduced system aimed at simplifying the process.
Kamrul Islam, superintendent of Immigration Police at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, said the service had recently been launched.
“Foreign passengers who want a visa on arrival or transit visa for Bangladesh can now apply online,” he said.
Travellers can scan a QR code to access the website and complete the visa-on-arrival application form, according to Kamrul.
Previously, those seeking a visa on arrival had to wait at a counter after reaching Dhaka to submit an application.
Officials would then verify the information provided by the traveller, adding to the time needed to complete the process.
Kamrul said the new system should make the procedure quicker and easier by allowing travellers to complete the necessary forms in advance.
“They will be able to fill out their arrival or departure cards online before arriving at the airport,” he said. "bdnews24
