Bollywood actor Arjun Rampal and his longtime partner Gabriella Demetriades have finally tied the knot. However, they did not marry in a lavish ceremony. The couple legally registered their marriage in Goa.
According to a report by the Press Trust of India (PTI), Arjun and Gabriella completed the formalities at the Sub-Registrar’s Office in Mapusa, North Goa. Under local law, there is a mandatory 15-day waiting period between the first and second signatures. However, the couple completed the process by obtaining special permission.
Sub-Registrar Suraj Vernekar said their marriage was registered under Goa’s Uniform Civil Code. The couple also chose not to wear elaborate outfits for the special occasion. They arrived at the office at around 4 PM in simple attire, accompanied by a few close friends.
Arjun and Gabriella began their relationship in 2018. After being in a long-term relationship, they welcomed two children. Their first child, a son named Arik, was born in 2019. Four years later, in 2023, their second son, Ariv, was born.
Despite spending years together as a family, Arjun and Gabriella did not rush into marriage. Instead, they allowed their relationship to develop on their own terms. In 2025, Arjun publicly announced their engagement.
Finally, in 2026, their relationship received legal recognition through marriage.
Before getting married, Arjun had spoken several times about why they had chosen not to marry. In an interview on actor Ranveer’s YouTube channel, Arjun said that marriage papers were not particularly important to their relationship.
In Arjun’s words, “What is marriage, really? In the end, it’s just a piece of paper.”
Arjun explained that after marriage, people can sometimes develop a sense that a relationship has become permanent. According to him, that perception can change the natural dynamics of a relationship. For him, the beauty of his relationship with Gabriella lay in its natural progression.
The actor also said that, in their eyes, they were already married. They supported each other in becoming better people while also enjoying their relationship as romantic partners.
However, Arjun had made it clear that he was not opposed to marriage. Ultimately, the couple decided to obtain that very “piece of paper” after all these years.
Before his relationship with Gabriella, Arjun was married to model and former Miss India Mehr Jesia. They married in 1998 and have two daughters, Mahikaa and Myra.
After nearly 21 years of marriage, Arjun and Mehr divorced in 2019. Despite the end of their long marriage, Arjun has always maintained a close relationship with his two daughters.
Even after beginning his relationship with Gabriella, Arjun continued to fulfill his responsibilities as a father to his children. Balancing his new relationship with his responsibilities toward his daughters has remained an important part of his personal life.
Arjun and Gabriella’s relationship began with love. They then started a family without getting married. Even after welcoming two children, they remained unmarried for many years. For them, the meaning of their relationship was deeply personal and went beyond social or legal recognition.
