Popular Bangladeshi band Nagar Baul vocalist James and his team have been caught in a controversy following allegations that they left a hotel room dirty and disorganised after a concert in Rome, Italy.

The hotel reportedly demanded an additional €200 from the concert organisers for cleaning the room. James’s manager, Rubaiyat Thakur Robin, has now responded to the allegations, calling the incident “trivial” and denying that they left the hotel without informing the authorities.

Robin said James and his team stayed in four separate rooms. James stayed in room 345, while Robin stayed in room 246. According to Robin, the hotel had complained about the condition of room 549, which was occupied by another musician.

“James was not staying in that room. Therefore, he cannot be held responsible for its condition,” Robin said.

Meanwhile, Italian event organiser Hossain Ahmed Moaz has accused Robin of fraud and misappropriating a large amount of money. Moaz alleged that Robin kept the concert’s advance payment and the full proceeds from ticket sales and refused to provide an account of the event’s earnings.

He also alleged that Robin transferred a large amount of money to Bangladesh through illegal hundi channels. No official response has yet been received from Robin or James regarding these allegations.

James and his team performed at a concert in Rome on Sunday, August 16. They were staying at an apartment at a local Best Western hotel. The controversy emerged shortly after they left the hotel following the concert.

Screenshots of a WhatsApp conversation between the hotel authorities and local organiser Hossain Ahmed Moaz have circulated on social media. The hotel reportedly shared photographs showing used water bottles and other waste scattered across the floor, dirty dishes piled up in the kitchen sink and broken raw eggs nearby.

According to the hotel’s message, the condition of the apartment after the guests left was unacceptable. The hotel demanded a minimum additional cleaning fee of €200 and said the outstanding amount would have to be paid before any future booking at the hotel.
