Manchester City star Erling Haaland has surprised fans and his long-time girlfriend, Isabel Haugseng Johansen, by shaving off his signature long blonde locks for a fresh buzzcut ahead of the Premier League opener against Bournemouth.
Haaland revealed the new look across social media and YouTube on August 23, 2026. This marks a major style change for the Norwegian striker, who kept his Viking-style long hair throughout his four-year tenure with Manchester City.
In the YouTube video, Isabel admitted she felt like crying when his hair was about to be cut. She gasped and put her hands over her mouth in disbelief as the hair came off.
However, once she adjusted to the change, she approved of the style, telling him, "It looks nice. You look cute." Haaland jokingly replied that he was aiming for a tougher look, as if he had just been in the military.
Haaland explained that he had planned the haircut after the 2026 World Cup but delayed it due to a busy schedule. He added that he felt nervous about the decision, recalling advice from former Swedish star Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who once told him never to cut his hair.
Prior to revealing the final look, Haaland posted selfies showing short bangs with the caption, "Short hair don’t care."
Isabel also updated her look with a shorter hair refresh just below her shoulders.
The couple first met as children in the youth system at Bryne FK and began dating around 2021 during Haaland’s time at Borussia Dortmund. Isabel later moved to England with him, and the couple welcomed their first child, a son, in December 2024.
