On-duty Dhaka WASA employee killed being run over by car

A Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (WASA) employee was killed after being run over by a car in the capital’s Mirpur on Tuesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Md Shamim. He had been working for Dhaka WASA for nearly 25 years.

Shamim was posted in the Senpara and water pump areas of Mirpur. He hailed from Paikhanda Baradia village in Pabna’s Bera upazila.

The accident occurred around 6AM in Senpara near Mirpur-10.

According to eyewitnesses, Shamim was performing his duties when a car ran him over, killing him on the spot. 

Kafrul Police Station OC Md Saiful Islam said that police rushed to the scene getting information and completed the necessary legal procedures.

The body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
