Case filed against 52 naming Hasina as prime accused

Hasina has been named as the prime accused, while leaders and activists of the Awami League, Chhatra League and other affiliated organisations at district and upazila levels have also been accused.

Kotchandpur Police Station OC Mehedi Hasan said the case was filed after police seized materials allegedly linked to a procession staged by the banned Chhatra League and Swechchhasebak League.

“Five people have already been arrested in separate drives, and efforts are underway to arrest the remaining accused,” he said.

According to police, a video circulated on social media on Monday showed around 15 to 20 people, including former Kotchandpur upazila Chhatra League president Sheikh Shahin, taking part in a procession while carrying banners.

Police said the procession took place early Monday at the bus stand area of Kotchandpur town on the Kaliganj-Jhenaidah road, involving around 10 to 15 people allegedly affiliated with the banned Chhatra League.

Police said they rushed to the scene after receiving information and dispersed the procession. Eight sticks were recovered from the spot and listed as evidence in the case.

The allegations in the case are subject to investigation and any subsequent judicial proceedings.
