Salman Shah murder: Don’s remand hearing today

A hearing on the petition seeking seven days’ remand for actor Ashraful Haque, alias Don, who was arrested in connection with the Salman Shah murder case, will take place on Thursday (August 27), sources of Dhaka Metropolitan Police reported.

On August 24, CID investigating officer Inspector Md Muzibur Rahman moved a request for seven days' remand to question Don. The Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Rana fixed today as the date for hearing and directed to bring Don to court from jail.

The CID claimed that questioning Don would help reveal the cause behind Salman Shah’s murder, find other suspects in the murder and find out the reason behind his flight abroad despite ban on traveling abroad.

Don was arrested near Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by immigration police on August 9 and placed in jail after being denied bail plea.

Salman Shah was found dead at his New Eskaton residence on September 6, 1996. The case which was initially taken up as an unnatural death was converted into a murder case in October 2025 following court directive.
