The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced a five-day programme to mark its 48th founding anniversary.
BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the programme at a press conference on Wednesday after a joint meeting of the party at its Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka.
As part of the programme, BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will pay tribute at the graves of party founder Ziaur Rahman and former prime minister Khaleda Zia at 9AM on September 1.
The party will also hold a discussion meeting on September 5, where senior BNP leaders are expected to speak.
In addition, the BNP will organise programmes to release fish fry into open water bodies and plant trees as part of its anniversary celebrations.
At the press conference, Rizvi said the date for the party's national council has not yet been finalised. However, he said the council would be held soon.
