Firefighters brought a blaze under control at a garment waste (jhut) warehouse in Gazipur on Thursday morning after nearly two hours of effort.
The fire broke out around 8:00 AM at Deolia Bari Club More area under Konabari Police Station in Gazipur city.
Local sources said employees and residents noticed black smoke billowing from inside the warehouse and initially tried to extinguish the flames themselves. However, the fire quickly spread.
Upon receiving information, three units from Konabari Modern Fire Station and two units from Sarabo Fire Station rushed to the scene. Five firefighting units worked together to bring the blaze under control at 9:55 AM.
Deputy Director of Gazipur Fire Service Mohammad Mamun confirmed the incident, stating that five units successfully contained the fire.
He added that no casualties were reported, though a large quantity of materials inside the warehouse was destroyed. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire and assess the exact extent of damages.
