Renowned West Bengal actor Kharaj Mukherjee and his wife, Pratibha Mukherjee, have been stranded in Nepal following devastating flash floods caused by a glacial outburst.
The couple, along with a film crew, arrived in Nepal on August 20 for a movie shoot. Heavy flooding and severe damage to local infrastructure, roads, and bridges have cut off travel routes, leaving the entire unit unable to leave their location.
A relative, Saraswati Mukherjee, confirmed that the actor managed to contact his family via telephone. Kharaj informed them that despite being stuck in the flood zone, everyone in the shooting unit remains safe.
Kharaj Mukherjee is a celebrated figure in Bengali cinema, known for his work as an actor, comedian, and singer. He worked for Indian Railways before making his film debut in Hulusthul (1980).
