Rumin Farhana Slams Energy Crisis, Inflation in Parliament

Independent MP Barrister Rumin Farhana has strongly criticised the energy crisis in the country, inflation and worsening law and order situations.

Addressing the parliament on Thursday, she said that the situation regarding law and order had become so bad that “having 64 home ministers for 64 districts would not have been a bad idea.”

Regarding the energy crisis, Rumin said that people could hardly say when electricity would come and leave, while the prices of fuel keep increasing. She said that shortage of electricity and gas has been making lives of people difficult.

She criticised the government in respect of rising prices of essential commodities, saying that people were suffering due to inflation. She said that vegetables could hardly be found under Tk80, while the prices of eggs and Miniket rice were also rising.

In addition to it, she criticised the government on its failure to deliver its promise of providing 10 million jobs. She said that over 62,000 people had already lost their jobs and over 900 factories were shut down. “Forget about creating new jobs, only Allah knows how long existing jobs will last,” she said.
