Private school and college teachers have become “unnecessary teachers” in society due to the prevailing situation and discrimination in the education sector, leaders of the Private Teachers Alliance (BSA) have said.

Raising questions about the facilities and remuneration available to private teachers, they said an MPO-listed teacher still starts with a monthly salary of only Tk 12,500, making it extremely difficult to maintain a decent standard of living.

They made the remarks at a discussion titled “Good Governance, Recruitment, Allocation, Transparency and Accountability in the Education Sector” held at the Dhaka Reporters Unity on Friday afternoon. The Private Teachers Alliance organised the event.

MPO-listed teachers, private school teachers, kindergarten teachers and leaders of the National Citizen Party (NCP) attended the discussion from different parts of the country.
