Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar has urged the government, administration, political parties, law enforcement agencies, media and other stakeholders to cooperate with the 11-party alliance’s Dhaka-Rangpur long march which is scheduled for today (Saturday).

He made the call at a press briefing on Friday following a meeting of senior leaders of the 11-party alliance.

“We appeal to the government not to create any obstacle or hindrance to this disciplined, peaceful and democratic political programme,” Porwar said.

He also urged participants to exercise maximum patience and restraint in the face of any provocation.

“We will not fall into anyone’s provocation,” he said, adding that even if participants suffered injuries during the programme, they should refrain from retaliation and remain committed to completing the long march peacefully.

Porwar said the large convoy could cause temporary inconvenience to commuters, businesses, shopkeepers and transport operators along the route. He apologised in advance for any disruption and sought their cooperation.
