Trump’s claim of US control over the strait of Hormuz rejected by Iran

The IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) of Iran has rejected US President Donald Trump’s claim that the United States has complete control over the Strait of Hormuz.

During his statement made to the press on August 11 at the Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, Trump said that the US was “doing very well” regarding Iran and the Strait was controlled by the US.

Hossein Taeb, the IRGC spokesman and Basij chief, rejected the claim, stating, “The Strait of Hormuz is under the complete control and management of the Islamic Republic of Iran and will continue to be so.”

The 167 km long strait is a critical global energy route, transporting nearly one-fifth of the energy products in the world. It is situated between Iran and Oman.
