A patient was died in ambulance after it became trapped in a severe traffic jam on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway.
She suffered a heart attack and died at around 3:30 AM on Saturday (August 29) after the ambulance carrying her to Dhaka remained stuck in traffic for nearly four hours.
Amirunnesa, the deceased, was a resident of Pranbhagabatipur village in Chandraganj, Lakshmipur.
Her relative Tarek Al Hasan said that after Amirunnesa suffered a heart attack on Friday, they left for Dhaka by ambulance at around 8:00 PM The ambulance reached Daudkandi at around 11:00 PM, where it became trapped in severe traffic congestion. After remaining almost stationary for about four hours, she eventually died inside the ambulance at around 3:30 AM
Meanwhile, a severe traffic jam stretching for nearly 40 kilometres from Ashariarchar in Sonargaon, Narayanganj, to Eliotganj in Daudkandi, Cumilla, has developed. The congestion began after road repair work started on the Dhaka-bound lane at Ashariarchar at 8:00 PM.
