JURS holds int’l conference

Jahangirnagar University (JU) Research Society (JURS) organised its first-ever ‘JURS International Interdisciplinary Research Conference 2026’ on the university campus on Saturday.

Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan inaugurated the day-long conference.

Speaking at the inaugural session, JU VC said there is no alternative to research if a university wants to achieve a prestigious position on the global stage.

“Students should engage themselves in research alongside their academic studies. This will enable them to play an effective role in nation-building,” he said.

Pro-VC (Academic) Prof Dr Md Shamsul Alam, Pro-VC (Administration) Prof Dr Muhammad Nazrul Islam, JICA Bangladesh Health System Strengthening Project Team Leader Hironori Onishi, along with researchers, teachers and students, attended the event.
