Integrated efforts essential to maintain law, order: State Minister

State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku Mp today laid emphasis on an integrated initiative involving administration, law enforcement agencies, public representatives, and civil society to maintain law and order, control drugs, and build a healthy society to fulfill public expectations.

The State Minister, who is also assigned to oversee law and order and other development activities in Dhaka district, said this while addressing as the chief guest a special meeting and view-exchange session of the Dhaka District Law and Order Committee held at the conference room of the Dhaka Deputy Commissioner.

Terming drug abuse as one of the major social crises in the country, the state minister noted that criminal activities are rising alongside the spread of narcotics. He called for building a strong social movement and raising public awareness in addition to strict measures by law enforcement agencies to curb drug abuse.

Highlighting the need to prevent the spread of juvenile gangs, the State Minister urged all stakeholders to play an active role, noting that juvenile gangs expanded during the regime of the autocratic government, creating lasting negative impacts across society.

He stressed that families, educational institutions, local administration, and society must work together to keep youth away from crime.

Addressing public officials, the State Minister said ensuring citizen welfare and good governance is their prime duty.

Public trust in the government will be further strengthened if officials discharge their duties with honesty, efficiency, and dedication by upholding Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s ‘Bangladesh First’ philosophy, he added.

Emphasizing environmental protection, the State Minister urged authorities to give equal importance to environmental conservation alongside development activities.
