DMP files 2,119 cases for traffic law violations

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Traffic Division has filed 2,119 cases against individuals for violating traffic laws in the capital. A total of 499 vehicles were sent to dumping yards, while 210 vehicles were towed away.

Deputy Commissioner of the DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division, Md. Akter Hossain, said that these cases were filed during a drive conducted against traffic law violators in various parts of the capital on Sunday (August 30).

According to the DMP Traffic Division, the Traffic-Ramna Division filed a total of 115 cases, involving 6 buses, 1 truck, 3 covered vans, 6 CNG-powered auto-rickshaws, and 35 motorcycles.

The Traffic-Lalbagh Division filed 209 cases, involving 11 buses, 12 trucks, 2 covered vans, 20 CNG-powered auto-rickshaws, and 132 motorcycles.

The Traffic-Motijheel Division filed 415 cases, involving 55 buses, 2 trucks, 15 covered vans, 85 CNG-powered auto-rickshaws, and 186 motorcycles.

The Traffic-Wari Division filed 166 cases, involving 28 buses, 14 trucks, 18 covered vans, 14 CNG-powered auto-rickshaws, and 36 motorcycles.

The Traffic-Tejgaon Division filed 135 cases, involving 10 buses, 11 covered vans, 20 CNG-powered auto-rickshaws, and 62 motorcycles.

The Traffic-Mirpur Division filed 258 cases, involving 16 buses, 4 trucks, 10 covered vans, 33 CNG-powered auto-rickshaws, and 141 motorcycles.

The Traffic-Uttara Division recorded the highest number of cases, filing 487 cases involving 44 buses, 2 trucks, 18 covered vans, 94 CNG-powered auto-rickshaws, and 171 motorcycles.

The Traffic-Gulshan Division filed a total of 334 cases, involving 29 buses, 3 trucks, 11 covered vans, 29 CNG-powered auto-rickshaws, and 128 motorcycles.
