BOGURA, Aug 31: Police recovered 334 rounds of ammunition from underground soil during excavation for a master drain construction project in Bogura City Corporation, near the boundary wall of Bogura Zilla School, on Sunday morning.

Police said it would be determined after examination whether the ammunition dates back to Bangladesh’s 1971 Liberation War or was looted from a police station during the 2024 mass uprising.

According to police and local sources, workers were excavating the site when one of them spotted a metal object in the soil south of the planned drain wall.

After informing other workers, they informed the police. A team from Bogura Sadar Police Station (PS) went to the site and recovered the ammunition.

Officer-in-Charge of Bogura Sadar PS Ibrahim Ali said workers found the ammunition underground during excavation. Further details will be provided through senior police officials, he said.
