Adani Power has attributed the reduced electricity supply from its 1,600MW Godda Power Plant to disruptions in coal transportation caused by railway congestion and loading restrictions in India.

In a statement issued on Wednesday through a public relations agency in Bangladesh, the company said the movement of coal rakes to the Godda plant had been disrupted, reducing coal supplies and forcing it to temporarily scale back power generation.

This is the first explanation from Adani Power for the plant’s reduced supply to Bangladesh in recent weeks.

Data from the Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) shows that the Godda plant has been supplying around 800-1,000MW since mid-August, well below its full capacity.

Adani said it had moderated power dispatch during off-peak daytime hours to ensure adequate availability during evening peak demand.
