
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched an investigation into former adviser Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan and three senior officials of the Ministry of Youth and Sports over alleged irregularities and corruption in appointments, transfers, promotions and procurement.
A senior ACC official confirmed the development to the Daily Observer on Wednesday, seeking anonymity.
A four-member investigation team has already been formed, headed by ACC Deputy Director Md Zahid Kalam.
Besides Asif Mahmud, the officials under investigation are Youth and Sports Ministry Secretary Md Mahbub-ul-Alam, Joint Secretary Sheikh Mohammad Jobayed Hossain and Deputy Secretary Md Masum Ahmed.
According to the complaint submitted to the ACC, Asif Mahmud allegedly committed widespread irregularities in transfers, appointments and promotions during his tenure as adviser to the ministry.
