Soybean oil prices have increased once again in the domestic market.

According to the new price-list, bottled soybean oil was raised by Tk 5, fixing the new rate at Tk 204 per litre. However, palm oil prices remain unchanged.

The decision to adjust prices came during a meeting between edible oil traders and the Ministry of Commerce on Wednesday (September 2). Attendees decided to hike soybean oil prices following discussions on international market conditions, import costs, and existing domestic edible oil prices.

Under the new decision, bottled soybean oil will sell at Tk 204 per litre in the market. Previously, the same quantity sold for Tk 199.

Consumers will now have to spend Tk 5 more per litre for soybean oil. Meanwhile, authorities made no changes to palm oil prices.

Earlier this year on April 26, soybean oil prices were raised in the domestic market. At that time, bottled soybean oil rose by Tk 4 to Tk 199 per litre from its previous rate of Tk 195.

Consequently, soybean oil prices have increased twice within a gap of just a few months.
