A day labourer has passed away after getting assaulted over some petty issue in Chatmohar of Pabna.
Abdul Barek alias Baki breathed his last at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital on Wednesday while he was taking treatment.
Barek was a resident of Sajanai village of Parshadanga Union in Chatmohar upazila. The assault happened on Saturday morning on 29 August.
As per information of local people, Baki was taking his male goat to a pond nearby for a bath when his neighbour, Rabiul Islam Rabi son of Jaher Molla of the same village, stopped him and an argument ensued between them, resulting in an assault by Rabiul on Baki with bamboo stick. He was seriously hurt.
At first, he was taken to Chatmohar Upazila Health Complex. As his injuries were severe, doctors advised to take him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for his treatment.
But Baki succumbed to his injuries at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital on Wednesday morning.
After taking his body to their house, conflict erupted between the followers of both sides. But police intervened and controlled the situation.
Police of Chatmohar station, OC Md Oliur Rahman confirmed the incident, saying a case has been filed and further legal action is underway.
