Rajshahi bus services resume after 30hrs

Inter-district bus services from Rajshahi to other routes resumed on Saturday afternoon after remaining suspended for 30 hours. 

This brought relief to the stranded passengers.

The buses on several routes began operating from around 12PM, following a two-day disruption triggered by a dispute between bus owners and transport workers from Rajshahi and Natore. 

The suspension had severely disrupted travel on the routes connecting Rajshahi with Dhaka and other parts of the country. 

Passengers waiting at the counters expressed relief after the long disruption. 

Several travellers said that they had been waiting for hours and were frustrated by the uncertainty caused by the suspension.

A passenger said that they had arrived at the counter in the morning and were relieved finally.

Nazrul Islam Helal, general secretary of the Rajshahi road transport group, said the dispute was resolved following discussions between the two sides.

He said land minister Mizanur Rahman Minu intervened in the matter after which representatives of both sides held discussions and reached a settlement.

Following the resolution of the dispute, inter-district bus services from Rajshahi resumed on all major routes, ending the prolonged disruption for passenger.
