
An agreement was signed between Bangladesh Bank and Janata Bank PLC on August 31, 2026, to participate in the formation and operation of a Tk 3,000 crore refinance fund aimed at creating agriculture-based special economic hubs in the northern region.
The fund will support increasing agricultural production, preservation and marketing of agricultural products, and expansion of agricultural exports, says a press release.
The agreement was signed at the conference room of Bangladesh Bank. On behalf of Bangladesh Bank, the agreement was signed by AKM Saiduzzaman, Director of Agriculture Credit Department-2, while Mohammad Mazibur Rahman, Managing Director of Janata Bank, signed it on behalf of the bank.
Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governor Dr Md Kabir Ahmed attended the programme as the chief guest, while Janata Bank Executive Director Arif Hossain Khan was present as a special guest.
Other managing directors of banks were also present at the programme.
