The Supreme Court helpline received 6,554 calls from home and abroad seeking legal advice, case-related information and lodging complaints in the first eight months of this year, according to the Supreme Court Helpline Monitoring Cell.
From January 1 to August 31, the helpline received 870 calls seeking legal advice and 1,130 calls for information about cases. The information sought through these calls was provided to the service seekers immediately, the cell said.
During the period, 784 calls were received seeking action against officials and employees of various ministries, divisions and departments of the government.
However, no advice was provided on these complaints as they fell outside the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court helpline.
