Cute-BSPA Sports Carnival ends

Midul Hasan emerged as the standout performer as the Cute-BSPA Sports Carnival 2026 drew to a close with the presentation of the Abdul Mannan Ladu Trophy for Sportsman of the Year.

The Bangladesh Sports Press Association (BSPA) carnival, sponsored by popular brand Cute of Mousumi Industries Limited, featured more than 100 members competing across eight events and 12 disciplines over two weeks. 

State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Aminul Haque presented the prizes as chief guest. He praised BSPA members for maintaining a sporting culture among sports journalists and urged the organisation to expand the carnival into a year-round initiative and extend it to journalists across the country.

Aminul also said the government was prioritising sporting disciplines with realistic medal prospects and would provide long-term training and funding after the Asian Games. Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapol, chairman of Mousumi Industries Limited and president of World Archery Asia, attended as special guest. 

The programme also featured the induction of new BSPA members and the traditional mezban.
