Bangladesh Para Games camp gets Tk 10 lac government support

 
Bangladesh's preparations for the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games received financial assistance on Monday as the National Paralympic Committee of Bangladesh (NPC Bangladesh) was handed Tk 10 lac in government support.

The money was provided by the Ministry of Social Welfare and the National Foundation for Development of Persons with Disabilities (JPUF) as part of a pledged Tk 20 lac allocation for the national training camp.

The handover took place at the JPUF premises in Mirpur, Dhaka, as Bangladesh's Para athletes step up preparations for the continental multi-sport event, scheduled to take place in Japan from 18 to 24 October.
 
The assistance is intended to strengthen the ongoing camp, covering training requirements, athlete support and camp operations, while helping create a more structured preparation programme ahead of the Games.

NPC Bangladesh said the funding would play an important role in enhancing athletes' preparation for international competition and expressed its gratitude to the JPUF for the support. NPC Bangladesh president Mohammad Nasirul Islam, secretary general Dr Maruf Ahmed Mridul, deputy secretary general Md Hedayatul Aziz, treasurer Md Asiful Hasan Masud and executive member Md Mostak Sarkar attended the handover.

JPUF managing director (additional secretary) Md Tariqul Alam, director Sona Moni Chakma, deputy director Mohammad Shariful Islam and officials Md Selim Hossain and Dr Md Rezaul Kabir BMS were also present.

The Aichi-Nagoya Games, the fourth edition of the Asian Para Games, will bring together athletes from across the continent in 18 Para sports. For Bangladesh, the government-backed assistance comes at a critical juncture, with the national camp seeking to turn sustained training into competitive gains on the Asian stage.
