Hotel worker killed as bus runs him over in Jhenaidah

A hotel worker was killed after being hit by a bus in Kotchandpur of Jhenaidah district on Tuesday  morning. 

The bus fled the scene immediately after the accident and police could not identify it.

The accident occurred around 10AM  in the Mango Bazar area of the town.

Deceased Nur Islam was the son of late Ansar Ali of College Stand Para in the town.

According to police and the victim's relatives, Nur Islam was on his way to his workplace while he met the accident.

When he reached the Mango Bazar area of Kotchandpur municipal town, a Dhaka-bound long-distance bus ran him over from behind. He died on the spot.

Later, locals informed the police and police recovered the body.

Mehedi Hasan, officer in-charge (OC) of Kotchandpur Model Police Station, said that the body was recovered and sent to the morgue of Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

"We have started efforts to identify the bus and its driver. Legal proceedings in this regard are underway," the OC said.
