Two more accused in the murder case over the beating death of Special Branch sub-inspector Altaf Hossain in Savar’s Aminbazar have been placed on five-day remand.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Ayesha Siddika of the Dhaka Judicial Magistrate Court passed the order on Thursday.
The accused are Kashem Ali and Dodi Al Fayet Jitey. Police had sought 10 days remand for each of them.
With the latest arrests, 12 people have so far been arrested in the case, according to prosecution sources.
According to the case statement, Altaf(58) was beaten with rods, pipes, hammers and sticks after he intervened in an argument over the parking of an auto-rickshaw in Savar on September 5. He later took shelter at his son’s business establishment, where the accused allegedly attacked him.
Altaf was taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. His son Ariful Islam was also injured in the attack.
Altaf’s wife, Mst. Sheuli Parvin, filed the murder case with Savar Police Station, naming 15 people in the FIR.
