RAB dissolved, new SRB formed

A bill proposing the dissolution of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and the formation of a new force has been passed in the Jatiya Sangsad. The new force will be called the Special Response Battalion (SRB).

The bill to form the SRB was passed by voice vote during the third session of the Jatiya Sangsad on Thursday. Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed moved the bill.

With the passage of the bill, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has been formally dissolved.

Meanwhile, the Armed Police Battalion (APBN) Bill 2026 was also passed in parliament as a recommendation of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Home Affairs.
